As the number of COVID-19 patients grows, the demand for emergency services and healthcare workers is high and hospitals are filled to capacity. Our heroes on the front lines are working long, tiring hours to save lives and fight against this unprecedented pandemic.

Hotels are lying vacant, leading them to open up rooms for healthcare workers who are in need of a safe place to stay.

Of those that are committed to helping is Marriott International. With the help of credit card partners, American Express and JPMorgan Chase, “Marriott has committed $10 million worth of hotel stays for healthcare professionals leading the fight against COVID-19 in the United States,” according to President and CEO Arne Sorenson of Marriott International.

The multinational hospitality company has set up an initiative to combat the virus, called Rooms for Responders, which provides free rooms to doctors and nurses in “hotspot” areas including New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and Newark, NJ.

In addition to the Rooms for Responders initiative, Marriott has launched a separate program called the Community Caregiver Program. The initiative allows healthcare workers and first responders to book significantly discounted, hassle-free reservations at hotels in close proximity to the hospital where they work. The Community Caregiver Program is available in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
